My father - Keith McFaul - started Mcfaul Fencing back when the world was dark and lava flowed freely (at least that's how it feels to me because I, Dave McFaul, don't think I had even started Kindergarten back then!!) and he served both the Peterborough and Durham Region areas up till the early 80's. At that time he started to get more work with the major GM expansion here in Oshawa and quickly decided that the Durham Region was the place to have our base of operations. We started here out of our house on Bloor St. East (that property is now a No Frills grocery store) and stored our inventory in the back yard. If I wanted to go outside and play Baseball or Superheroes I had to use the Hydro right-of-way next to us (talk about sacrifices for the family business!!) In 1990 we moved to our 5500 sq. ft. shop on 2.5 acres here in Courtice, right off the 401 at Courtice Rd. where we stock a variety of fence components and do our fabricating.

As the years progressed my father made a name for himself and recieved broad recognition from all of the local Townships and Cities as well as ongoing work at GM, Hydro, Durham Catholic School Board, Oshawa PUC, Ministry of Transportation and a very large contract to build the fence for the GO Transit system from Whitby to Pickering along the 401.

I was put to work every summer sorting out nuts and bolts, cleaning out the fittings bins, re-baging all the loose fence ties until I was old enough to start working with the installation crews themselves. At this time a young Pete Paschkowiak started here in our shop and with his natural mechanical abilities quickly became our main welder and fabricator as well as shop foreman. With his extensive knowledge of the industry we then moved him up to doing Estimates with me just to handle the ever growing region's needs.

One of my all season work crews have been with us now for over 20 years and another is now 15 years or more with a third crew having almost 10 years with me now, so I am proud to say that we can provide the most experienced installations in the industry. We are well positioned to continue to serve the Durham Region  for both Industrial and Residential projects with quality work, quality product and a very capable office staff including Melanie our Office Manager, Dave, Pete and Keith for Estimates, Calvin is our Yard Foreman plus Welder and Fabricator.

Also, we have a Case 580D Backhoe with a variety of augers for digging any fence post hole up to 20" in diamater, a smaller Ghel digger unit that is only 42" wide and has articulate steering (to reduce any possible damage to the grass) that we use for Residential projects as well as digging and setting posts for the do-it-yourself market.

Our crews work from well equiped trucks with large flat beds to carry any tools or materials needed for the project.

Our suppliers are located as close as Ajax or accross the Toronto area so whatever we do not have in stock we are usually able to get in a timely fashion. But I do need to qualify this by saying the Wrought Iron market often gets overwhelmed during the summer months and it can take 4 weeks or longer to fill such orders.
